New Delhi, Aug. 31 -- Delhi Premier League saw a new winner crowned in its third edition as South Delhi Superstarz emerged champions on Sunday. The Tejasvi Dahiya-led outfit defeated Central Delhi Kings by seven wickets in the final at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. "As a league, we're very happy with the quality of cricket, the quality of skill, the talent, the new faces that are coming out. The names that were not known till about four weeks ago have now become a known name, at least within the city of Delhi," said DDCA President Rohan Jaitley on the success of the league. "The Apex Council of the association are is parents to this tournament. And now it's grown up, it's reaching some mature stages. And when we see this response, we are really proud of ourselves that that the association has done something, and the owners of all the franchises especially have some faith in us and that we're doing the right thing. And what we see here with the players outdoing themselves, showing what they have to offer," he added. Each time one would ask a South Delhi Superstarz player what their goals were for the season, they would respond with a simple answer - get the trophy home this time. Boasting of one of the most star-studded line-ups since the first edition, Superstarz had missed out on the trophy in the first edition, finishing runners-up. This time around, the mission was complete thanks to an all-round show from Divansh Rawat and Anmol Sharma, Ankit Dabas and Tejasvi Dahiya. Pacer Rawat starred with the ball, claiming 3/17 - finishing the tournament with a total of 14 wickets in nine matches. He accounted for the wickets of opener Samarth Singh (51), Keshav Dabas (3) and Vansh Bedi (11). Samarth, Yugal Saini (32) and captain Jonty Sidhu (36) played vital knocks but the innings lacked a solid finish as Central Delhi were wrapped up for 182/8. Despite losing Pranav Pant early, South Delhi Superstarz looked like they always had momentum on their side as Anmol and Ankit starred with a solid 89-run partnership. The duo displayed some clean hitting early on to take the pressure off the chase. After Anmol's dismissal, Tejasvi Dahiya played a crucial captain's knock whilst Ankit stayed unbeaten with a well-paced unbeaten 61. After Abhishek Yadav dismissed Anmol, Tejasvi - who played a vital role in powering his team to the final with a 57 off 33 against the same opponent in Qualifier 1 along with leading the side since Ayush Badoni departed for the Duleep Trophy - stepped up. It's also worth noting that Superstarz's in-form batter Sanat Sangwan also joined North Zone at Duleep Trophy. Dahiya was the most expensive buy at the auction this year after he was retained by Superstarz for Rs.40 lakh. He displayed some clean hitting to further add to Central Delhi Kings bowlers' agony. After he was dismissed by Garvish Khurana in the 18th over, Ekansh Dobal finished things off, chasing the target down in 18.2 overs. Brief scores: CDK 182/8 (Samarth Singh 51, Jonty Sidhu 36; Divansh Rawat 3/17) vs SDS 186/3 in 18.2 overs (Anmol Sharma 64, Ankit Dabas 61*). SDS won by 7 wickets....
