India, Sept. 25 -- N ational Award-winning actor-filmmaker Dhanush has postponed the release of his Tamil film OM: Chapter 1 to avoid a box-office clash with superstar and former father-in-law Rajinikanth's Jailer 2. OM was scheduled to release on October 16, a day after the veteran actor's film. Announcing the change on Wednesday, the 43-year-old star said the team had decided to move the film "out of immense respect" for the 75-year-old Tamil cinema legend. "Our superstar, Rajinikanth sir, the man whom we all have admired and worshipped over the years, has his film arriving on October 15, just a day before ours. Out of immense respect for him, we have decided to postpone the release of our film, OM, to a later date," Dhanush wrote on X. He also ruled out a Diwali release, with Tamil star Suriya's Scene already booked for the festive window. "In all fairness, they announced their date first," he said, adding that big films should respect each other's release plans "keeping the larger welfare of the cinema and industry in mind".
