Delivery man, friend dead as speeding car rams bike
Mohali, May 23 -- A late-night visit to meet an ailing relative turned fatal for two young friends after a speeding car allegedly driven by an intoxicated man rammed into their motorcycle from behind on the Kurali-Kharar road near Sahaura village in the early hours of Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Kurali-based Jasdeep Singh, 20, a BA student and part-time delivery man with an e-commerce firm, and his friend Amanpreet Singh of Mianpur village in Ropar district.
According to the FIR registered at Kharar Sadar police station, Jasdeep and Amanpreet were on a bike while his father Charanjeet Singh was on another bike when they were heading to meet a sick relative in Bhagomajra Colony, Kharar. Jasdeep's bike was hit from behind at 1.15 am, leaving both of them dead.
Car occupants Nitish Bhardwaj of Karnal and his companion Ashwani Kumar were taken into custody and an FIR was registered under Sections 281 (rash driving), 106 (causing death by negligence) and 324(4) (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said. htc...
