Chandigarh, March 8 -- The Cow Welfare Committee on Saturday conducted a comprehensive inspection of cattle pounds at Raipur Kalan and Industrial Area, Phase 1, under the supervision of MC special commissioner Pardeep Kumar. Finding the Industrial Area cowshed unsafe for housing livestock due to deteriorating building infrastructure, the committee asked the officials concerned to shift the cattle to other functional gaushalas across the city for their safety. The committee also issued directions for urgent civil repair and strengthening works at the site. The inspection team comprised committee members Ramesh Kumar and Vinod Bansal, and MC health supervisor Mohinder Parthak. The visit was undertaken to review the ongoing "Care for Cattle" initiative being implemented by the Chandigarh MC to ensure better facilities, health care and protection for stray cattle in the city. During the visit to the Raipur Kalan gaushala, the committee expressed satisfaction with the overall cleanliness, management and health condition of the cattle. The special commissioner told the staff to ensure safe shelter, proper healthcare and dignified living conditions for stray cattle, and directed the officials concerned to maintain strict monitoring of all cattle care facilities in the city....
