Chandigarh, Oct. 2 -- A special CBI court on Thursday dismissed the bail application of Sahil Kukkar, former accountant of the Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science, and Technology Promotion Society (CREST), in the alleged Rs.83-crore fund diversion case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the alleged diversion of CREST funds from accounts maintained with IDFC First Bank's Sector 32 branch. The agency has already filed a chargesheet in the case against Kukkar, former CREST project director Sukhwinder Singh Abrol, and several bank officials and other accused. The CBI alleged that the funds were diverted through fraudulent banking transactions and fictitious instruments to shell entities. The development comes days after the CBI received prosecution sanction against Kukkar and Abrol.
