Cops raid 15 Sopore locations in crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami
Srinagar, May 17 -- Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted simultaneous searches at more than 15 locations across Sopore district on Saturday as part of an ongoing crackdown on terror and separatist networks linked to banned organisations.
The operation was launched in connection with a case registered last year at Sopore police station under Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against the banned Jamaat-e-Islami.
The search operations spanned multiple areas, including Jamia Qadeem, Naseem Bagh, Krankshivan, Tarzoo, Amargarh, Warpora, Bomai, and Boitingoo.
According to officials, the raids were executed after obtaining search warrants from the designated UAPA court. The operations followed strict legal protocols and were conducted in the presence of executive magistrates and independent witnesses.
During the searches, police seized incriminating material, including literature associated with the banned organisation, which has been confiscated for further investigation and examination....
