Chandigarh, Sept. 11 -- Chaos and confusion marked the first day of the 36-day planned disruption at the Chandigarh railway station as passengers struggled to locate their trains amid cancellations and diversions on Thursday. The first phase of the closure will continue until October 15, during which several essential works, including the construction and installation of a foot overbridge and dismantling of existing station structures, will be carried out. Railway officials said platforms 5 and 6 will remain closed during the first phase. The Vande Bharat Express, earlier operated from platform 6, has been temporarily shifted to platform 1. As part of the block, 12 train services will remain cancelled during the first phase, affecting 442 train trips during the period.
