Cloudy week ahead before rainy weekend
Chandigarh, Aug. 18 -- Amid the yellow alert sounded by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city recorded 2.4 mm rain on Sunday.
For the next few days the weather department has predicted cloudy weather, which will again be followed by rain from Friday onwards.
As per IMD officials, a total of 701 mm rain has been logged in the city so far this monsoon, which is 13.6% above normal (617 mm) for the corresponding period.
In July, the city received 184.4 mm rainfall, 32% below the average of 273.2 mm for the month. This was due to weak Eastern disturbances and other meteorological conditions, as per IMD officials.

Thus, the city is expected to cross the normal 845 mm rain figure for the season.
