Child safety, POCSO awareness session held at Mount Carmel School
CHANDIGARH, Aug. 20 -- Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh, organised a vital awareness and interactive session featuring Shipra Bansal, chairperson of the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR).
The session was specifically conducted for the school's auxillary staff, focusing on child safety, rights, and the provisions of the POCSO (protection of children from sexual offences) Act.
During the interaction, Bansal educated the staff on their crucial role in maintaining a safe environment for children, identifying red flags, and understanding legal safeguards. The session also covered her inspiring personal journey, core life learnings, and her key welfare initiatives-most notably 'Ek Mitra', a platform designed to give adolescents a safe, anonymous space to speak up against grievances.
Highlighting the significance of the event, principal Parveena John Singh emphasised that educating school support staff on child protection laws is essential for building an all-around secure campus environment.
