Chandigarh, July 9 -- The investigation into the June 13 murder of a cashier at a chemist shop in Sector 11, Chandigarh, has uncovered a Pakistan-linked narco-terror, arms and counterfeit currency network, with the UT police arresting four persons from Tarn Taran and Amritsar on Wednesday. The arrests led to the recovery of 3 kg methamphetamine (ICE drug), fake Indian currency notes with a face value of Rs.8 lakh and two sophisticated pistols. The accused were identified as Akash Kumar alias Mani, 28, Sachin Silvester, 30, and Gurmeet Singh alias Badshah, 31. Another accused Dharminder Singh alias Goli alias Balwinder Singh alias HSZ, currently lodged in Kapurthala jail and the alleged kingpin of the network, was taken on a production warrant in the case. During a press conference at the Sector 9 police headquarters, police said the accused, with the help of their Pakistan-based handlers, were smuggling narcotics, sophisticated weapons and counterfeit currency into the country using low-flying drones. The same network had supplied the firearms used in the chemist shop murder, police said. According to police, accused Badshah had arranged accommodation and logistics for the two shooters who had arrived from Jammu and Kashmir on Goli's instructions to carry out the murder at the chemist shop. He allegedly supplied them with two illegal firearms, ensured the weapons were test-fired and facilitated reconnaissance of the target before the attack. Mani allegedly maintained contact with a foreign-based operative to procure illegal weapons, narcotics and counterfeit currency. Silvester allegedly assisted in collecting, transporting and distributing illegal firearms, narcotics and fake currency. Police said Goli, despite being incarcerated in Kapurthala jail, was running the network. He has 32 criminal cases, including murder, extortion, Arms Act offences and NDPS Act violations, against him. Investigators are now working to trace the source of the recovered weapons, narcotics and fake currency....
