Cheema slams Centre overLPG price hike, seeks rollback
CHANDIGARH, June 8 -- Finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Sunday criticised the BJP-led central government over the latest increase in domestic LPG cylinder prices, alleging that the continuous rise in fuel and essential commodity costs is adding to the financial burden on ordinary citizens. Demanding an immediate rollback of the Rs.29 hike in domestic LPG cylinder prices, he said the Centre must take effective steps to curb inflation. "Poor and middle-class families are already struggling under the burden of inflation, and the fresh hike in cooking gas prices has further increased their hardships," he said.
He alleged that the Centre is using international developments, including the US-Iran war, as an excuse to justify the hike. "The increase in commercial LPG cylinder prices has already impacted street vendors, and eateries," he said. HTC...
