Chandigarh, Oct. 23 -- Ayaan Chandel, Nikunj Arora and Shanaya Banwait advanced in their respective categories at the All India Tennis Association (AITA) Championship Series for Boys and Girls Under-12 and Under-16, being organised by the Chandigarh administration's sports department at the Tennis Stadium, Sector 10. In the boys' Under-16 singles semi-finals, top seed Chandel defeated Charchit Boora 6-1, 7-6 (5), while Yug Mahi beat Parth Berwal 5-7, 6-1, 6-1. In the Under-12 boys' singles, top seed Arora overcame Aarv Goyal 6-4, 7-6 (3), while Arnav Verma defeated Haranjan Lamba 6-0, 6-4. Shanaya Banwait beat Ayanna Singh 6-4, 6-4 in the girls' Under-12 singles semifinals. In the girls' Under-16 category, N Nivideta defeated Tanya Bhatnagar 7-6 (1), 6-1, while Japji Badohal advanced via a walkover. In boys' Under-16 doubles, Mahi and Chandel defeated Mahijith Kaura and Shaurya Sharma 6-1, 6-1. They later won the final, beating Samrat Das Roy and Berwal 6-1, 6-4. In the Under-12 boys' doubles final, Arihaan Walia and Arora defeated Angad Singh and K Chaudhary 7-5, 6-0. The championship concludes on Friday....
