Chandigarh, Oct. 8 -- On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, 2026, the local chapters of Dayanand Anglo-Vedic (DAV) institutions in theTricity region successfully organised the annual "Run for DAV" marathon. Designed to promote physicalfitness, wellness, sportsmanship, and social awareness among students and the broader public, the event brought together young athletes, faculty members, and local citizens. The run served as a vibrant platform to foster unity, healthy living, and community spirit across all participating institutions. The marathon flagged off bright and early at 6.30 AM from the scenic environs of Sukhna Lake, with all the DAV school principals jointly performing the flag-off ceremony. The picturesque course took runners through the city to the finishing point at Zakir Hussain Rose Garden in Sector 16, Chandigarh. To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, the organisers set up designated water stations, medical aid teams, and volunteer checkpoints strategically positioned along the route. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from six prominent schools: DAV Mohali, DAV Sector 39, DAV Sector 15, DAV Sector 8, CL DAV Sector 7, and KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7-B, Chandigarh. Each participating school fielded a delegation of 100 students alongside male and female staff members, bringing the total student turnout to approximately 600. The participants competed across multiple age categories, including Under-7, Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 for both boys and girls, as well as dedicated categories for staff members.
