CBI files chargesheet against 18 in chit fund case
Dehradun, July 11 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet before a special BUDS (Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes) court in Dehradun against 18 accused in the multi-crore Loni Urban Multi State Credit and Thrift Co-operative Society (LUCC) chit fund case, officials familiar with the development said on Friday.
The investigation was handed over to CBI following a 2025 directive from the Uttarakhand high court, which ordered the transfer of all local cases related to the case.
Tyhe CBI registered a caseon November 26, 2025, taking over 18 separate FIRs previously lodged at various police stations.
The accused face charges under relevant sections ofthe IPC, BNS, the Uttarakhand Protection of Interests of Depositors Act, and the BUDS Act,2019.
According to CBI officials, LUCC was initially registered as a multi-state co-operative society in 2012 by an individual named Vajid Khan....
