India, Aug. 28 -- A ctor Camron Jones, known for the web series Panic, is set to portray late rapper Tupac Shakur in Snoop, the upcoming biopic about Snoop Dogg. The film will chart the 54-year-old rapper's journey from Long Beach, California, in the 1990s to becoming one of rap's biggest names. Actor Jonathan Davis was previously announced to play Snoop Dogg. Myles Bullock will portray Dr. Dre, who discovered Snoop and produced his debut studio album, Doggystyle, in 1993. Lauren London will play Snoop Dogg's late mother, author Beverly Tate. Directed by Craig Brewer, Snoop is produced by Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum, alongside Snoop Dogg and Death Row Pictures. The film is also expected to feature music from Snoop Dogg's catalogue. Shakur was one of the most influential rappers on the West Coast. He also appeared in films such as Juice (1992), Poetic Justice (1993) and Gridlock'd (1997). In 1995, he had served eights months in prison after being convicted of first-degree sexual abuse. He was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996 at the age of 25. Snoop Dogg and Shakur were both signed to Death Row Records and collaborated on tracks including 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.
