Cafe owner death: Dubey, others sent to 10-day judicial custody
Lucknow, Oct. 23 -- Police questioned model and social media influencer Shraddha Dubey and two others for nearly seven hours on Thursday in connection with the death of Lucknow cafe owner Shiva Sharma, seeking answers to 120 questions about his fatal fall from an apartment on October 9. A local court sent the three accused to judicial custody until October 31, officials aware of the matter said.
Shraddha, 31, her sister Rashmi Dubey and driver Danish alias Tanveer Ali were arrested in Nagpur and brought to Lucknow on transit remand. They were questioned at Hazratganj police station before being produced before additional chief judicial magistrate Balwant Kumar Bharti, who remanded them in judicial custody for 10 days, they said.
DCP (Central) Arpit Vijayvargiya said, "The investigating officer and his team conducted detailed questioning. The police recovered two mobile phones and Rs.25,000 in cash from Shraddha. The phones and other recovered items have been sent for forensic analysis."
"All three were questioned separately to prevent them from coordinating their accounts. We will conduct a detailed investigation into all aspects that emerged from their statements. We are also gathering information about who helped them during these 10 days and where they stayed. Those who assisted them will be identified and strict action will be taken against them," the DCP added.
Sharma, 28, died after allegedly falling from the balcony of an apartment in the Balu Adda area under Hazratganj police station limits. His mother lodged a murder complaint against Shraddha, alleging that he was assaulted and tortured before being thrown from the apartment.
Vijayvargiya said police had questioned six to seven people so far besides the three accused, including a domestic help who was present at the time of the incident and reportedly told investigators that the couple had fought that day.
"We are investigating their statements," the DCP said.
