Chandigarh, April 3 -- A security alert was sounded across Chandigarh on Thursday after the Punjab and Haryana high court received a bomb threat e-mail warning that "13 bombs" would explode on the court premises around 1.10 pm. According to officials, the e-mail was received directly by high court authorities around 6 am. Sent via a Hotmail account, the message was reportedly sent from an ID identified as "Sourav Biswas" to an official court e-mail address. The message also named organisations such as TNLA and TNRT, while levelling a series of allegations against central institutions, enforcement agencies and political groups. It accused authorities of targeting minorities, misusing laws and suppressing dissent. The sender further made claims related to financial irregularities, alleged media influence and even referenced narcotics networks in southern India. Following the threat, Chandigarh Police, bomb disposal squads, dog squads and other security agencies were rushed to the high court complex. Security at all entry and exit points was tightened, with strict checking, frisking and surveillance measures put in place.
