Chandigarh, Oct. 12 -- Led by Punjab state president Jai Inder Kaur, BJP Mahila Morcha workers staged a protest in Chandigarh against the Congress over the allegations of sexual harassment against Congress MP and JNU professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam. The protesters attempted to march toward the Congress office but were stopped by police barricading. A confrontation followed between the protesters and police personnel, after which several women workers, including Jai Inder Kaur, were taken into custody. Speaking to the media, Jai Inder Kaur said, "Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge frequently speak about women's safety and dignity, but why are they completely silent when serious allegations emerge against their own MP?" The morcha demanded the suspension of the MP from the Congress, his resignation from the Lok Sabha, strict legal action and a public apology from the Congress leadership.HTC...
