Amritsar, Aug. 24 -- Amid speculations of a Shiromani Akali Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party (SAD-BJP) reunion, BJP's national general secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh will begin his two-day Punjab visit from Amritsar on Monday. Addressing the media here, BJP state spokesperson Sarchand Singh Khiala said Santosh will review the party's organisational structure and assess preparations for the upcoming elections in all 117 assembly segments. Dismissing speculations of a SAD-BJP alliance, Khiala affirmed that the BJP will contest the 2027 Punjab assembly elections independently on all 117 seats. Khiala described the recent statements by certain SAD leaders on a possible BJP-Akali alliance as personal opinions and political speculation, asserting that they did not reflect the BJP's official position. He said the party's stand had already been made clear by Union home minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon. Khiala said the BJP's primary objective was to build a strong organisational network down to the booth level in every assembly constituency. Accordingly, the party had appointed election in-charges, constituency in-charges and senior leaders to implement its comprehensive election strategy across Punjab. Referring to the 1996 BJP-SAD alliance, the BJP state spokesperson said it was formed to strengthen Hindu-Sikh unity, promote communal harmony and provide a stable alternative to the Congress. However, he maintained that Punjab's political landscape had changed significantly ever since, and the BJP was now fully prepared to offer an independent and credible alternative capable of delivering long-term solutions to the state's challenges.
