Chandigarh, Sept. 12 -- A teenager was killed and his friend critically injured after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a divider in Maloya village on Friday afternoon, police said. The deceased, Sarwan, 18, died during treatment at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16. His friend, Arman, 18, who was riding pillion, remains critical. According to police, the two friends, both residents of Maloya, had taken a third friend's motorcycle for a joyride. Neither was wearing a helmet, and they were riding at high speed. Police said Sarwan lost control of the motorcycle while negotiating a turn in Maloya, causing it to crash into a divider. Both sustained head injuries in the accident. Onlookers alerted the police, following which the injured youths were rushed to Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16.
