Biker fined Rs.22,500 for tampered number plate
Panchkula, April 28 -- A motorcyclist was fined Rs.22,500 and his vehicle impounded after traffic police found a tampered number plate during a checking drive near Majri Chowk on Monday. Police said the rider was also unable to produce any valid documents, such as driving licence, registration certificate, insurance, or pollution under control (PUC) certificate.
In India, high-security registration plates (HSRP) are mandatory for all vehicles. The plates must be made of aluminum, have black text on a white (private) or yellow (commercial) background, and be fixed at both the front and rear, with standard fonts and no artistic designs....
