Bathinda AIIMS to introduce robotic surgeries by year end
Bathinda, July 15 -- The central government has approved a project to equip the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda, for performing robot-assisted surgeries. Dr Ratan Gupta, executive director of AIIMS, said the institute has started the process to source an advanced robot from the US, estimated to cost Rs.30 crore.
"The approval came last month. We expect to start robot-assisted surgeries by year-end," he said. According to Gupta, this cutting-edge technology will enable surgeons from various department to perform complex surgeries with greater precision, minimal blood loss and quicker recovery times.
Experts said that no public sector hospital in Punjab, Haryana, or the adjoining districts of Rajasthan has a robotic surgery system....
