Chandigarh, Aug. 15 -- Inspector Baljit Singh, posted as in-charge of the crime investigation agency (CIA), Barnala, has been awarded the President's Medal for Distinguished Service on the eve of the 80th Independence Day. Similarly, according to the list released by the Union ministry of home affairs, 11 other Punjab Police officials, including two IPS and six PPS officers, have been awarded Medals for Meritorious Service. The two IPS officers are inspector general of police (intelligence, admin) Babu Lal Meena and IGP (provisioning) SBoopathi, while six PPS officers are Sangrur SP (PBI) Navreet Singh Virk, Sangrur DSP (headquarters) Karnail Singh, DSP (security) Subhash Chand, Amritsar DSP (CID unit) Sanjeev Kumar, ACP (North Amritsar) Gagandeep Singh and Jahan Khelan DSP Jasvir Singh. The remaining officials include inspectors Rashpal Singh and Nirmal Singh, and ASI Nirmal Singh. Senior constables Lovepreet Singh and Angrej Singh and constables Bobby Kumar, Charanjit and Mamta Rani have been nominated for the Chief Minister's Rakshak Padak. Three PPS officers, including Khanna SP (investigation) Pawanjit, SP (SP) Surendra Singh and Ludhiana DSP (CID unit) Ashwani Kumar, are among the 20 officials selected for the Chief Minister's Medal for Outstanding Devotion to Duty. The remaining officials include inspectors Rajesh Kumar, Gurmeet Singh, Davinder Singh, Satpal and Harshjot Kaur, sub-inspectors Inderjit Kaur, Sandeep Kumar, Karamjit Singh, Baldev Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, assistant sub-inspectors Yadwinder Singh, Narinder Sidhu, Navtej Singh, Jatinder Singh, senior constables Amanpreet Singh, Ramanpreet Singh and Amardeep Singh.
