Rohtak, May 19 -- A police team was allegedly attacked during an attempt to rescue a labourer who had been confined by a group of workers at a brick kiln in Gorchi village in Hisar district, officials said on Monday. Two cops have been hospitalised, officials said. Assistant sub-inspector (SI) Pradeep Kumar of Balsamand police station said Surendra, owner of Poonia Brick Kiln, had complained on Friday night that one of his workers, Rajneesh, had been confined and assaulted by other labourers as they accused him of eloping with a woman of their community. A police team arrived at the scene but the personnel were assaulted with sticks and one of the workers allegedly tried to run over the cops with a tractor. Hisar superintendent of police Siddhant Jain said that two cops sustained injuries and they have been taken to the hospital. He said that five accused have been arrested and the police investigation is underway to trace others. According to the police, efforts were made to pacify the workers but they turned violent. Rajneesh was finally rescued....
