As the 39-year-old called time on his 21-year Argentina career on August 31, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Yuvraj Singh and Shikhar Dhawan joined fans worldwide in saying goodbye to football's iconic No. 10. Messi, Argentina's record scorer with 125 goals in 207 appearances, said the decision "hurt and still hurts deep inside". The 2022 World Cup-winning captain revealed he had written his retirement note two days after Argentina lost the 2026 Cup final to Spain, but his father's death in August made him even more certain it was time to step away. He will continue playing club football for Inter Miami. Kareena, who met Messi with sons Taimur and Jeh during his India visit last December, responded to his farewell post with red-heart emojis.
