Annual exhibition celebrates diversity and dialogue in art
India, March 22 -- A vibrant celebration of creativity, diversity and contemporary expression unfolded at Punjab Kala Bhawan on Friday as Artscapes, a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting art and cultural dialogue, inaugurated the 12th Annual Women Artists' Exhibition 2026.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Haryana governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh in the presence of Mitra Ghosh. Commending Artscapes for its sustained efforts, the governor lauded the initiative for fostering contemporary artistic expression and for creating a meaningful platform that celebrates the significant contributions of women in visual arts.
This year saw an exceptional response, with over 1,000 entries received from across India and other countries including Greece, Turkey, the UK, Poland, Russia and Sweden.
Following a rigorous selection process, more than 100 artworks have been shortlisted for display, spanning a diverse range of practices such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and photography.
Awards amounting to Rs.3 lakh were also presented, recognising the outstanding contributions by women artists across professional and student categories.
The exhibition was further enriched by a curatorial note from Premjish Achari, offering critical insight into the conceptual framework and thematic concerns of the show. The selection process was undertaken by an eminent jury, including Vibha Galhotra, a noted contemporary artist and recipient of the Asia Society Game Changer Award, along with fellowships from the Inlaks Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center, and the Asian Cultural Council, bringing depth and rigour to the evaluation process.HTC...
