LUCKNOW, Sept. 28 -- Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday expressed support to the upcoming meeting of the Opposition INDIA bloc on September 30, and said even though he wouldn't be able to attend the meeting personally due to other engagements, a senior leader from his party will participate in the meeting. He said he has already spoken to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge about the meeting. "We defeated the BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and we will wipe out the ruling party in 2027 assembly polls. The SP will increase 27,000 votes in every assembly constituency and reduce the BJP's fake 27,000 votes. The BJP's defeat in Uttar Pradesh is certain," Yadav said during a press conference at the party headquarter in Lucknow. Speaking on the recent allegations of an internal tussle in the Election Commission of India (ECI) and allegations levelled against chief election commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, the SP chief accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of defending the poll body.
