Akal Takht, SGPC flay Rajasthan Police action at Sriganganagar gurdwara
AMRITSAR, Oct. 6 -- Akal Takht acting jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj and SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami condemned the action taken by the Rajasthan Police inside Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh Ji in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. They said it has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.
The operation reportedly included damage to the premises and the arrest of local Sikh leader Tejinderpal Singh Timma. Giani Gargaj asked the Rajasthan chief minister for an impartial inquiry into his arrest and the entire incident.
He said that the police action severely hurt Sikh religious sentiments and violated the sanctity of the gurdwara.
Dhami condemned the police conduct, terming it a "direct assault on the religious feelings of Sikhs". He urged the Rajasthan government to ensure a transparent probe, penalise officers who violated religious sanctity, and unconditionally release Timma....
