New Delhi, June 1 -- The Indian National Inclusive Developmental Alliance (INDIA) partners are set to meet soon to push for a joint campaign against the ruling dispensation and showcase their unity, following a series of electoral losses for the Opposition parties and the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) rapid expansion in the eastern part of the country, leaders aware of the matter said. Trinamool Congress' (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien told HT: "The INDIA bloc will meet soon with a common purpose and clear intent. BJP makes promises and reneges on them. They must be defeated in 2029 before they complete their mission of murdering democracy. Teamwork is the key. INDIA united. Many parties look forward to meeting in the spirit of camaraderie." The last meeting of the beleaguered opposition grouping was held in December 2023 in New Delhi. Even as floor leaders of the alliance met regularly during Parliament sessions and on important national issues, the summit or meeting of party heads could not take place. The upcoming meeting is expected to discuss how to renew the battle against BJP and identify key pro-people issues. It is also expected to criticise the Election Commission of India (ECI) and highlight the brutal post-poll attack on TMC leaders in West Bengal, two leaders aware of the details said. The meeting assumes importance as the BJP won Odisha and West Bengal for the first time and secured its first chief minister in Bihar in the past two years....
