Bathinda, July 9 -- In its first meeting held on Wednesday, the newly elected Bathinda Municipal Corporation unanimously passed a resolution to take tough measures to curb abandonment of stray cattle and dumping of construction waste within city limits. The MC House also passed development works worth Rs.125 crore for the city, including a modern community centre in ward number 48, strengthening of the water supply system and introducing latest mechanical sweeping system. In a release, mayor Padamjeet Singh Mehta said the House decided to impose a fine of Rs.1 lakh on those found abandoning stray cattle within city limits. The local body also approved a penalty of Rs.25,000 on owners of vehicles dumping construction debris at unauthorised locations, besides impounding the vehicles.
