76 advocates designated as senior advocates
Chandigarh, Oct. 22 -- The Punjab and Haryana high court designated 76 advocates as senior advocates, effective from October 16, 2025.
The list was formally approved by the Full Court on October 20, 2025, after reviewing recommendations based on professional merit and integrity.
This is the largest single batch of senior advocate designations in recent years at the court.
The new designations include a mandatory condition requiring each of the 76 senior advocates to handle at least 10 free legal-aid cases annually. This rule is in line with a 2017 Supreme Court directive emphasising the social responsibility attached to the "senior advocate" title.
Prominent advocates on the list include advocate Sartej Singh Narula, current president of the Punjab and Haryana high court bar association, Major Navdeep Singh, Anil Malhotra, Vikas Chatrath and the like. htc...
