Mohali, Sept. 9 -- Unidentified men fired six rounds outside the residence of a businessman in Phase 10, Mohali, around 11.30pm on Monday, prompting police to probe a possible extortion angle. The firing came three days after shots were fired outside a hair salon in Sector 80, and police are examining whether the two incidents are connected. The complainant, Baljeet Singh, informed the policecontrol room following thefiring. A team from the Phase-11 police station reached the spot and began collecting evidence. An FIR was registered on Tuesday. Deputy superintendent of police Harsimran Singh Bal said several teams had been formed to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest. Police are also investigating whether the firing was linked to alleged threats received by Singh and his business partner from gangsters. Investigators have not yet confirmed the motive.
