6 held for kidnapping IAS academy director
Bhopal, May 4 -- Six people, including the conspirator, were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a director of a Delhi-based coaching academy, in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal on Sunday, police said.
Commissioner of police, Bhopal, Sanjay Kumar, said the prime accused, Priyank Sharma-a franchise owner of the academy-was apprehended on Sunday from the ICU of AIIMS Bhopal, where he was admitted to evade arrest. He said that Sharma had lured Shubhra Ranjan, the director of the academy, to Bhopal under the pretext of opening a second branch and conducting a site inspection.
Apart from Sharma, police identified the other arrested accused as Rohit Malviya, Deepak Bhagat, Vikas alias Vicky Dahiya, Kunal Yadav and Pankaj Ahirwar.
According to the preliminary probe, Sharma was operating the coaching centre in MP Nagar which was running at a loss for a year. "Financial losses led to escalating disputes between the two individuals, and this very conflict eventually spiraled into a major criminal incident," Kumar said. The accused is a son of a retired BHEL official and a former student of the victim's institute, police said.
