46.1 mm overnight rain lashes city, more on cards today, says MeT
Chandigarh, July 12 -- The city recorded 46.1 mm rain during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. This comes a night after the city received 92mm rain, a three-year high for July as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
While light to moderate rain is likely to continue on Sunday, the intensity of the weather system is expected to weaken.
The IMD said the Western Disturbance (WD) affecting the region has started losing strength. The active monsoon trough has also begun to weaken, though conditions remain favourable for light to moderate rain.
Despite the rain, both day and night temperatures increased. The minimum temperature rose from 22.2degC on Friday to 24.2degC on Saturday, remaining 2.4 degrees below normal. The maximum increased from 32.3degC to 33.9degC, which is normal for this time of the year.
Over the next three days, the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 35degC and 36degC, while the minimum is likely to hover between 25degC and 26degC....
