4 shooters of Goldy Brar gang held with 8 pistols in Jalandhar
Jalandhar, May 18 -- In a major breakthrough, police have arrested four associates of Canada-based terrorist and gangster Goldy Brar, dismantling an organised crime network.
Jalandhar commissioner of police Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa said preliminary investigation revealed that all four worked for the Goldy Brar gang as sharpshooters.
The arrests have led to the recovery of as many as eight sophisticated pistols, including one PX5 pistol, one Zigana pistol, three .30-bore pistols and three .32-bore pistols, along with 45 live cartridges.
Those arrested have been identified as Sukhwant Singh, Jugraj Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Neeraj, all residents of Jalandhar district.
"All accused were evading arrest in two murder cases. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages," Randhawa added.
Unidentified assailants fired multiple gunshots into the air outside a retired army officer's residence in Jalandhar's Chhoti Baradari area on Saturday night.
The complainant, Gurdial Singh, who owns the Kanda Jewellers shop, told police the incident happened around 11.45 pm on Saturday.
Deputy commissioner of police Manpreet Singh Dhillon said police were scanning CCTV camera footage from nearby areas to gather clues about the accused. A case has been registered....
