3rd arrest in P'kula club firing case
Panchkula, July 12 -- The crime branch has arrested a third accused in the Swiss Lounge firing case, in which a club owner and his friend suffered gunshot injuries during the intervening night of June 3 and 4.
The accused, identified as Sumit Kumar alias Lalla, was arrested from Jalandhar on July 10 and produced before a court on Friday, which sent him to four-day police custody.
Police said Sumit allegedly provided cash and mobile phones to the main shooters. During his remand, investigators will interrogate him about the larger conspiracy, financial assistance, absconding accused and other members of the criminal network.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP, crime) Amrinder Singh said the police are also probing where the weapons were procured from.
Raids are being conducted in different states to trace and arrest the remaining absconding accused.
The case is being investigated by a special investigation team (SIT). Earlier, police had arrested two accused, Harpreet Singh alias Happy and Jaswinder Singh alias Gora, following an encounter. Their interrogation led investigators to Sumit.
According to the FIR, the victim, Ratan Lubana, had received extortion threats, purportedly from the Rohit Godara gang.
