Mandi, July 5 -- A court in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district sentenced three convicts to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.1 lakh on each in the murder case of a home guard. Sessions judge Abira Basu further sentenced three convicts, namely Sanjay, Manish Kumar and Pankaj Soni, residents of Sarkaghat, for three years' rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs.30K for voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant to deter them from performing their official duties. The sentence was pronounced on Friday. The accused would also undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years and pay a fine of Rs.20,000 for assaulting or using criminal force against a public servant. On December 31, 2016, two home guard jawans Joginder Singh and Dila Ram were on night duty. During patrolling, they spotted a motor cycle driven in zig zag manner. When intercepted, two more motor cycles came and four persons started thrashing both jawans. Joginder Singh was injured and died during treatment. htc...
