Jalandhar, Oct. 23 -- Three criminals associated with jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria have been arrested following a brief shootout with Jalandhar commissionerate police on Wednesday. The accused have been identified as Mankaran Deol, Jaiveer Singh and Simranjit Singh, all residents of Jalandhar. Commissioner of police Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa said the accused were associated with Bhagwanpuria and Amritpal Bath and one of the accused Mankaran was wanted in twin murders case at Jalandhar and Gurdaspur. Kaur said acting on human and technical intelligence, the police team intercepted the accused travelling in their Maruti Alto car bearing a press sticker near Salempur Masanda area. "Seeing the police, the occupants attempted to flee. During the chase, the criminals fired at the police party. The police opened fire in retaliation in which one of the accused suffered bullet injury," she said.
