Ludhiana, Oct. 22 -- A 25-year-old man ended his life nearly a month after his wedding by reportedly consuming a poisonous substance following humiliation at his in-laws' house in Ghawaddi village. He died on October 19, 13 days after consuming the substance, police said. The Dehlon police have booked his wife, father-in-law, brother-in-law and marriage mediator for abetment to suicide. The complaint also names his mother-in-law, though the police statement lists four accused. According to a complaint filed by the deceased's father, his son got married on September 20. On September 23, he visited his in-laws' house where he was allegedly humiliated. "My son was deeply distressed after the incident. On October 6, he consumed a poisonous substance and was admitted to a private hospital. He died on October 19 after 13 days of treatment," the victim's father said.
