Panchkula, Sept. 26 -- A 23-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years' rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fined Rs.50,000 by a fast track special POCSO court for the rape of minor girl in Raipur Rani in 2024. Additional sessions judge Manish Dua convicted the man, who is the victim's brother-in-law, under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The court also sentenced him to two years' RI and imposed a fine of Rs.2,000 under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Both sentences will run concurrently. The case was registered at Raipur Rani police station in June 2024 on a complaint by the victim's mother.
