20-year-old strangles mother, surrenders at police station
Rohtak, Sept. 7 -- A 20-year-old man on Sunday morning strangled his 40-year-old mother to death at their home in Brahmanwas village of Rohtak district and then walked into Sadar police station to confess the crime, police said. A murder case has been registered against the accused, who has been arrested.
The deceased has been identified as Pinki Devi, who lived separately from her in-laws. Police said the accused, Prince Kumar alias Monu, who visited her on Sundays, had an argument with her as he wanted her to return to the family in Sonepat. Police officials are trying to ascertain whether there was any other trigger for the crime.
According to police, the accused overpowered his mother, sat on her chest and then strangled her. A forensic team was called to examine the crime scene, and the body was later sent for a post-mortem examination.
The deceased woman's husband, Devendra Singh, works for a private company in Gujarat. The couple also have two daughters, who stay with their grandparents in Sonepat.
