ROHTAK, July 10 -- Police have arrested two accused for allegedly assaulting Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma during a wedding function at Agrasen Dharamshala in Julana town of Jind district on June 6. According to a complaint lodged by the singer's elder brother, Vikas Sharma, a resident of Jind's Brahmanwas village, the singer had gone to attend his cousin sister's wedding on June 6. There, a group of men consuming liquor and carrying weapons allegedly abused the singer, leading to an altercation. A Haryana Police constable accompanying Masoom tried to intervene, but the situation escalated, and the group allegedly assaulted those present. The complaint further alleged that the accused also assaulted Vikas' son, Lakshya Sharma. One of the accused, identified as Kartik Kumar of Satrod village in Hisar, and others allegedly threatened to kill the singer and claimed links with a criminal gang. Masoom reportedly managed to escape from the venue. Julana police station in-charge Kuldeep Singh said that the based on the complaint, an assault case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and two accused, Kartik and Aman, both from Hisar, were arrested.
