2 Haryana men held for Sanjauli school administrator's murder
Shimla, June 16 -- Himachal Police on Monday arrested two Haryana locals for murder of a school administrator in Sanjauli on Saturday evening, said officials.
The accused Ashish Ahlawat, 22, of Jhajjar, and Deepak, 25, from Rohtak, were arrested from Rohtak 39 hours after the killing on Minakshi Mittal , they added.
Shimla assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Abhishek, during a press conference said the two would be brought to Shimla on June 16., produced in court, and remanded to police custody.
A school administrator Manisha Mittal was shot dead outside the gate of her school on Saturday evening by unidentified assailants. Manisha, from Rohtak had tied a knot in Rewari.
Sharing information, theASP said they accused arrivedin Shimla in a white Swiftcar.
"They came to Shimla in a Haryana-registered vehicle, but tempered the number plate by placing a Himachal registered number to mislead police. The accused fired multiple rounds on Minakshi Mittal with country-made pistols on the evening of June 13, and fled the scene. They used link roads to escape from Shimla to avoid police barriers and reached Haryana," ASP Dhiman said.
"We are probing the possible involvement of other individuals in the case, and all aspects are being thoroughly examined," he further said.
During investigation, police examined digital and technical evidence along with CCTV footage from the scene and nearby areas. Eyewitnesses were also interrogated.The ASP said multiple teams were constituted and dispatched statewide and in neighbouring Haryana to nab the suspects, who were held from Rohtak on Monday morning. They are being brought to Shimla for further investigation.
He said two country-made pistols allegedly used in the murder have also been recovered from the accused.
Police said both accused have multiple cases registered against them. "A case of extortion is registered against Abhishek, while cases under Arms Act, causing hurt, and extortion-related offences are registered against Deepak."
Mittal had reportedly expressed concerns about threats to her life prior to the incident. She had publicly spoken about her safety fears and had also conveyed similar apprehensions through messages sent to her brother on social media. In her video, she had mentioned an ongoing property dispute with her brother regarding the school's ownership.
The ASP said police are also investigating allegations made by the deceased against her brother in connection with an ongoing property dispute. "The case is being investigated from are all possible angles, including the motive and involvement of other individuals.
Responding to queries regarding allegations that police failed to act on complaints previously filed by the deceased, Abhishek said appropriate action had been taken in each case.He said most of the complaints submitted by Manisha Mittal pertained to civil disputes, including allegations of tampering with records of a residential society, on which necessary action had been initiated.
Meanwhile, Himank Mittal, deceased's brother, in a video shared on social media said that he has nothing to do with the murder and has been questioned by the police. Denying all allegations of his involvement in the murder, Himank said that he too was attacked on June 1 and had sustained injuries....
