2 from Kashmir get life term for murder
Jammu, Sept. 7 -- Principal sessions judge, Udhampur, Virinder Singh Bhau, on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to two men from Kashmir, who murdered a police constable in 2017. The accused were identified as Mohammad Maqbool Dar, a resident of Cherakoot, Lolab in Kupwara district, and Riaz Ahmed Malik of Kehnusa tehsil Aloosa district, Bandipora, after eight years of trial.
On January 14, 2017, during naka checking at traffic naka point in Jakheni area of Udhampur district a truck (JK09A-5301) loaded with vegetables was signalled to halt and the driver and inmate of the truck was directed to park the vehicle on the side of the road.
However, the truck driver lost his temper and after sometime he suddenly started the vehicle and dashed against the barricade crushing selection grade constable Sanjeev Kumar leading to his death on the spot.
The court observed that stubborn attitude, angry behaviour and adamancy of accused persons have led to an unsavoury and ghastly act which resulted in the death of a policeman.
The court sentenced both accused to rigorous imprisonment for life and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000....
