CHANDIGARH, March 18 -- Punjab Police on Tuesday conducted 587 raids, arresting 178 individuals on Day 56 of the anti-gangster campaign. With this, a total to 15,072 persons have been arrested since the launch of the campaign. Preventive action has been taken against 99 persons, whereas, 59 persons were verified and released after questioning. Police teams have also arrested five proclaimed offenders during the operation. Police teams on Day 381 of the campaign arrested 69 smugglers and recovered 547g of heroin, 550g of opium, 918 kg of poppy husk, 544 intoxicating tabletsand Rs.1,300 drug money from their possession.
