Hoshiarpur, Sept. 18 -- A 16-year-old boy died on Thursday at the Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital after being critically injured in a clash between two groups of minors at Dadian village on Wednesday night, police said. The victim, a resident of Dadian village, was initially rushed to Tanda Civil Hospital before being referred to Hoshiarpur as his condition deteriorated. Tanda deputy superintendent of police Davinder Singh said police received information from a community health centre at around 11.30 pm on Wednesday about a fight involving two groups of boys. According to Tanda station house officer (SHO) Amarjit Kaur, the clash erupted after youths from Dadian and neighbouring Sallan villages got into an argument over motorcycle nuisance, accusing each other of modifying bike exhausts to create firecracker-like sounds (patakas). "The altercation turned violent, leaving several youths from both sides injured. The victim suffered a stab wound to his abdomen from a sharp-edged weapon, though the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem," the SHO said. Police have registered a case and launched a hunt to arrest those involved. The police have not revealed names of the accused. Apart from the victim, one other person from the opposite side is hospitalised, while others sustained minor injuries. The police have registered a case of causing grievous hurt under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Tanda police station. No murder charge has been invoked at the time of filing this report. According to the FIR, there had allegedly been an earlier dispute between the two sides. Further investigation is underway, police said. The DSP said police teams have been formed and raids are being conducted at different places to apprehend those allegedly involved in the incident....
