1 held for making derogatory remarks, death threats against himachal CM
Hamirpur, July 4 -- Himachal Pradesh Police arrested a man in Hamirpur on Friday for allegedly posting a video on social media containing derogatory remarks and death threats against chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
The accused, identified as Rajnish, a resident of Bhagot village, was produced in court on Friday and remanded to police custody for four days, the police said.
On Wednesday, Vishwa Shama, a resident of Shivnagar, had lodged a complaint with police, saying that a video uploaded from an individual's social media account used offensive language against the CM with a threat to kill him.
The video allegedly included derogatory remarks against a specific community. After being identified, the accused was summoned to the Bhota police post for questioning, where he was subsequently arrested.
Hamirpur SP Balbir Singh Thakur said given the seriousness of the matter, apprehended the accused, questioned him, and arrested him. Thakur added that a case was registered under various sections covering offences such as using abusive language on social media, making deliberate derogatory remarks against an individual, and tarnishing a person's reputation....
