'Navy ensuring safe exit of vessels from Persian Gulf'
NEW DELHI, April 16 -- The Indian Navy has played a crucial role in ensuring the safe transit of merchant ships exiting the Persian Gulf, with its presence in the wider Gulf of Oman region providing confidence to Indian seafarers amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, Navy chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi said on Wednesday.
Addressing the ongoing Navy Commanders' Conference, Tripathi highlighted continued instability in the region and its impact on maritime traffic. "It is a reminder that security is interconnected, persistent, and unforgiving, where distance from conflict does not equate to distance from its consequences," he said.
The Navy is reviewing its operational posture to safeguard India's maritime interests, including energy security, while assessing capability development and alignment with national security objectives in the current geo-strategic environment.
