Zoya Akhtar-Reema Kagti hit by Rs.13 lakh data theft; employee arrested

iger Baby, the production house founded by filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, has allegedly suffered a data theft worth Rs.13 lakh at its Mumbai office. According to police, a staff member has been arrested in connection with the case.
An FIR filed by executive assistant Mehjabeen Mushtaq Shaikh states that the office stored hard drives containing raw footage, edited scenes, promotional material and completed films. Suspicion arose on May 21 after an employee allegedly failed to produce one of the drives, prompting a check of the storage cupboard where several hard drives were found missing. Partially burnt packaging boxes were also reportedly discovered inside.
During questioning, the accused allegedly confessed to stealing 24 hard drives over the past five months and selling them in Borivali for Rs.15,000-20,000 each. However, an internal audit later found that as many as 119 hard drives were missing. HTC...
