leaning your sneakers isn't just about keeping them looking good. It's about making sure they last. A little care goes a long way and helps avoid things like stubborn stains or yellowing soles.
Keep it simple: A soft brush for uppers, a stiffer one for soles, microfibre cloths, lukewarm water and a mild cleaning solution are all you need. Dish soap works fine, but for leather pairs, use a dedicated cleaner. Skip anything harsh, no wire brushes, no bleach.
Prep matters: Start by removing the laces. Dirt hides around the tongue and eyelets. Do a dry brush first to get rid of loose dust. Adding water too soon only pushes dirt deeper. Check the soles and clear out any stuck debris.
Clean smart: Soak the laces in soapy water and gently scrub or machine-wash in a mesh bag. For the midsoles, use a stiff brush and work in small circles, this is where most grime sits. For uppers, go gentle. Lightly apply and lift the dirt instead of scrubbing hard. Wipe insoles with a damp cloth; for odour, a little baking soda overnight helps.
Dry them right: Avoid heat. Let sneakers air dry in a cool, shaded spot. Stuff them with paper towels or use shoe trees to hold their shape. Direct sunlight can cause yellowing, so give them time. Finish with a stain repellent if you like. It takes a bit of effort, but done right, your sneakers will look better, and last much longer....
